Chuchotage – a close cousin to simultaneous

Chuchotage, or whispered interpretation, is a form of simultaneous interpretation that can be provided for up to two listeners. The interpreter(s) sit within earshot of the listeners (between or just behind them) and whisper the interpretation directly to them.

Depending on the setting – a guided tour, say – interpreters may use a tour guide system, which enables interpretation to be relayed to a larger number of recipients.
