We’re stronger… together!
1+1 = 3, as the corporate world would have it. We prefer to claim that 2+2+2+2 = ∞. In other words: four powerful teams of two across the entire country.
A formula that translates to…
According to a study of the conference interpreting market by the professional associations VKD and AIIC, these are precisely the assets that clients look for and appreciate when it comes to organising multilingual events. And that is exactly what we can provide through our decentralised, well-organised team of freelance interpreters.
The KDD network was born in the north of Germany, specifically in Hamburg, where Anja Grewe and Monika Ott had already established a successful local business. They were inspired to create a wider network of colleagues across the country, but with an international scope, that would enable them to manage larger projects too.
No sooner said than done: in early 2020 the Konferenzdolmetscher Deutschland network was launched, with teams in Hamburg, Berlin, Munich and North Rhine-Westphalia – only to be stopped in its tracks by the Coronavirus pandemic. But when a door closes, another one opens. Suddenly we had time to test the opportunities and limits of remote working and interpreting. We explored interpreting platforms, drew up standards, updated template contracts, produced a set of good practices, applied (successfully) to become AIIC Consultant Interpreters and – last but very much not least – worked with our clients to navigate the new normal.
So where do we go from here? That’s anyone’s guess. But wherever we go, we look forward to taking that journey with our clients. With you.
